Great Product
I love everything about this product. Braun makes excellent and durable products that last. My last toothbrush was also an Oral-B, purchased in 1998. So it’s fair to say this toothbrush will last as long as my first toothbrush. You can’t go wrong buying Oral-B. This toothbrush does everything that you need a toothbrush to do.I love that it will let you know if you’re brushing too hard, that it will talk to you if you hook it up to Alexis, and it has a timer on it automatically, that will let you know how long you’ve been brushing your teeth and when to stop. For the price it’s an excellent value. I don’t plan on buying another one because at age 70, I’ll probably not be around for another 20 years.

Get Untethered From Your Phone
It seems this product may be discontinued now but I’ll write a review for it anyway. I was lucky enough to catch this when it was still being sold by Amazon at a substantial discount (well under $100). As someone who has had a number of Oral-B toothbrushes over the years, I definitely have had the best experience with this one and it has helped me build better habits.First, the Alexa functions of this device are, as other reviewers have pointed out, a bit neutered. It doesn’t do everything most Alexa devices do. To be honest, I don’t think that’s a big deal. I basically would like it to play some tunes during my morning routine and this little base does that quite well. The biggest advantage of this unit though over any other Oral-B toothbrush I’ve used is that the Bluetooth for this toothbrush is tethered to the base and NOT to your phone. I try not to take my phone everywhere and this setup has worked perfectly for me. You don’t need your phone near it, nor do you need to worry about it being paried with your phone or not, it just tethers to the base. So, whenever you complete a session (whether you put it back on the base or not) the toothbrush sends it to the base which is connected via wi-fi and the session gets uploaded. Easy. In the three weeks I’ve had this toothbrush I haven’t had any issues with it sending sessions so it seems they may have ironed out the firmware bugs that other reviewers mentioned. As far as the toothbrush kit itself you are trading off a few things for this cool base, you are only getting one brush head (no big deal for me as I prefer the Pro Gum brush head anyway that doesn’t come with any of their toothbrushes) and there isn’t a travel case of any kind. Neither is a big deal to me as there are tons of standalone travel cases available. As far as the handle itself, I’m pretty sure this is the same handle as the Genius Pro 7500 as it has the same look and number of modes. I prefer this compact base versus the one with the tray for all the brush heads the 7500 has (although I think you may be able to use that charging base without it being attached to the tray). One of the other reasons I picked this particular model was the Lithium-Ion batteries however, my first charge was quite a bit less than I expected. I think I got about a week out of it before it needed charging. I’ll see if that changes over time. The Lithium-Ions should definitely provide better life than the Ni-MH batteries of most other Oral-B models. I’m pretty certain it would survive all but the longest trips without needing a charge. So, overall, if this unit is still available at a great price I would snag one. If it is, in fact, discontinued though you would want to look to the 7500 as its closest replacement.

Easy to set up, easy to use
I’ve been an Oral-B user for years. I think the brush does an excellent job of cleaning my teeth and I like the different settings for multiple members of my household. I decided to replace my old brush after 10 years of trusty service and I’m glad I upgraded to this model which includes an Alexa enabled smart speaker. I’ve been able to get my weather and news updates while getting ready in the morning or listen to music while showering and I love it. The speaker isn’t the best, but it’s good enough for bathroom use. I also really like that I can use the app to track my brushing. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that you cannot program the tracking app for multiple users. I have a tiny bathroom and don’t have the room to store multiple brushes, nor would I, since it’s just easier (and cheaper) to use separate heads. The brush heads come with color rings to differentiate between users and we’ve been doing this for years. I hope Oral-B remedies this soon, because then this brush would be perfect.

This is Electronic Waste now.
I spent $219 plus taxes on this device in 2020 — it was integrating two devices into one, so there would be one less brick in the wall socket. It was clever and worked perfectly. Then things started getting annoying in 2023 (for example: a little LED, at the 6 o’clock position, changed color when there was a notification on my Amazon account, and wouldn’t go away without a factory reset; linked Alexa skills wouldn’t work on the device anymore; et al.).Until the two entities (Amazon and Braun) essentially divorced in 2024 (other reviews have pictures of the exact date when the gatekeeper app, Oral-B Connect, stopped working for good).Well, I was able to use the Bluetooth speaker until last week, when my smartphone needed to be replaced. Now it’s just a fancy trickle charger that doesn’t do anything else. Worse, the annoying LED light is still on when I use the toothbrush. Will I buy another Oral-B toothbrush? Yes, just not the electric kind. Will I buy another Amazon device? Absolutely not. This was the worst bait-and-switch introduction to their products ever. This was marketed as an Amazon exclusive — now it feels like this was a way to boost their voice assistant sales numbers as the competition for those devices caught up? The least they could have done would have been to allow the Alexa app to recognize what is essentially an Echo device, without the gatekeeper app. Spreading the cost over the ‘lifetime’ I got from it, this cost me $50+ a year. (In contrast, all electronic devices I own have provided excellent functionality for an average of a decade or more and are still going strong — none is an Amazon device.)I could have got dozens of manual toothbrushes for the price. Or a set of voice assistants, one for each room.Like another reviewer said, buy a regular toothbrush. And if you want a voice assistant or a Bluetooth speaker, make peace with single-tasking devices and get just that.
