satisfactory accuracy, indicated lifespan, auto-powers off, does not save display setting
I like Medline. I buy their chucks, wipes, briefs, creams, cleansers. They make a lot of good high quality stuff. So brand recognition was the primary reason I tried this oximeter out.THE GOOD — Accuracy wise it kept within +-1 point on the O2 and +-2 points on the HR against my primary meter which was somewhat clinically validated about a year ago via professional assessment of the pulse waveform. Granted I am taking at two different fingers on the dominant hand but its the only way to do a real time comparison. Instructions mention the product has been designed for ongoing use with a 5 year operating life. This I liked. One thing I’ve never seen in all of the nearly dozen white-labeled oximeters I’ve tried is any mention of expected lifespan. And its that sort of thing that not only gives confidence but also justifies cost. Because dividing the cost out over 5 years (assuming the claim is correct) brings the price point down to near where your typical white-labeled oximeter is given that they may only last 1-2 years.THE NOT SO GOOD — One thing I didn’t care for was the time based auto shut off even when its still on the finger. I expect this feature when the finger is removed, but to have it shut off while its still taking readings annoys me. Another mild annoyance is that there is no memory for the display mode. Each time the device is powered back on it reverts to the default display mode. For record; the default display mode can be read right-side-up when the oximeter is placed on the right hand. So if that’s the hand you’re going to use this on then you’ll hit one button and you’re good to go. If you’re intending to use this on your left hand you’ll hit the button 5 times to cycle to a display viewed from that perspective. Or, you could just read it upside-down. Its a personal preference thing, not a huge deal, it’s just that literally every other oximeter I have saves the display mode except this one.THE APP — As far as the app goes my objection is that I don’t care for being forced to create an account. Firstly, an account is required to use the app. There is no local only, or guest mode, you load the app and you cannot proceed without creating/logging into an account. Secondly, account creation requires valid email address and phone number. I say valid because you’ll have to receive and input a verification code to complete onboarding. If you don’t both of these things the app has no functionality. I assume the reason why Medline would want this layer of security is because the instructions (the ones that came in the box, not the ones uploaded in the listing images) mention remote provider monitoring, and that would make sense because that probably ventures into HIPPA territory. But I’ll restate that this is an assumption because a) I didn’t proceed with onboard, and b) I see no mention of this provider feature in the Amazon listing.

    Handy, Comfortable — Works Great
Does what it is intended to do. It’s lightweight, clips on easily, and feels gentle on the finger thanks to the soft pad. The OLED screen is clear, and I like that it has multiple viewing orientations so you can read it from different angles. In terms of accuracy, it seems dependable — values are consistent when I compare with other devices.

Solid Pulse Oximeter + PI, can be used without app
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I picked it for the brand, as I’ve been skeptical that others are as accurate as claimed, particularly when some would have what’d have had to be false readings or stop working in less than a year. With Medline’s name on it, hopefully it means that it lasts longer, as cheaper options also often require more frequent replacement.Build quality:The build quality feels solid, and the clamp is gentle but firm enough to take an accurate reading. The sensor is also well-placed to allow for slightly longer nails.Ease of use:It’s easy to use right out of the box without the need for the app. 2 AAA batteries are included. The app is also easy to pair, and they provide a support number (see instructions manual in the listing).Functionality:It provides seven different screens toggled through with the power button for blood oxygen level, pulse, pulse chart options, and PI/perfusion index, which I don’t typically see. It should probably delay a little longer for more accurate readings, though the quick display makes it clear that it’s working, so there are tradeoffs.Brightness:Brightness is very clear even in direct light and can be adjusted with the power button.Oxygen level:Oxygen level and pulse are accurate and in-line with other similar items and a fitness watch.Value for money:Though it’s on the more expensive side, likely due to app integration, if this lasts longer than others, then it’s already ahead (hopefully it’s the case with Medline’s brand on it). The build quality also feels solid and higher quality than others and provides a strap and carrying case that are decent enough. Edit: Also, the carrying case has a loop on it to allow for it to be clipped to something or a well-stitched belt loop.

    Didn’t last
I am on oxygen so I use these a lot. I was excited to find a rechargeable oximeter. This one is nicer than the ones at some of my Dr appointments. I was very disappointed when this one stopped recharging after less than 2 months. Before that it worked great and was easy to use. It was accurate and the reading was fast. I’m really disappointed.

Quick and easy SpO2 readings at home
The readout on this is very clear. It displays brightly with easy to read numbers and graph. It does power off automatically while still wearing it. It says it auto-off if there is no readings for 8 seconds (finger out), but it turns off for me even with a finger in, after like less than a minute. I was hoping to get a longer read than that. Maybe I’ll get better at using it, and it won’t turn off?But while it is reading it seems to provide a similar HR to my other devices, and as for oxygen level, I assume it is accurate, but have no other device to measure against that is live reading. But it is similar against a single read device. It starts getting a reading pretty quickly after turning it on and putting it on your finger. The currently listed $60 might be priced a little high, but it is a known brand and build quality seems really good. Maybe the bluetooth brings the price up a bit, but I don’t see using the app, as it requires too much personal info to create an account.Good build quality, fast readings, average price, but it turns off too easily and too many credentials for the app.
